About Culture Score Card

Succes is relative!

Test your project against your own objectives.

Do you seek profit above all, or are you just happy to meet the budget? Do you need additional sponsors? Are you targeting a broad audience, or is your project for “the few”? Are you dependant on critics success? Are you profiling your own institution, or maybe your city? Is your focus traditional or ground-breaking? Long-term or short-term sight? Etcetera. Not two projects have identical success criteria.

About Culture Score Card

Relations between arts and business are still often hampered by the lack of a common language and in many cases also a lack of common criteria for what really matters.

A few years ago, in Denmark, some profiles from the business and arts world, met with the ambition of bridging the gap between the worlds. They developed a model, Culture Score Card, as a tool by which you could test the success potential of virtually any project in the arts and culture area. The goal was to leverage the success rate of projects in the eyes of the public, the audience, the sponsors and the critics.

How? By first defining the success criteria, and then assess the project's actual ability to meet the many aspects involved, so that the strengths and weaknesses can be analyzed in a dialogue with the parties involved. Up front, not afterwards when it is too late.

This group consisted of Mr. Lennart von Haffner, a consultant from Kreativt Forum, Mr Teddy Wivel, an accountant and expert in Corporate Governance, Mr. Jens Gehl, lawyer and expert in IPR, Mr. Christian Have, an experienced event manager, Mr. Lars Jensen, a bank CEO, Ms. Charlotte Bender, a chief communications officer, and Mr. Per Voetmann from the danish Ministry Of Culture.

Together they designed the simple and logical structure of Culture Score Card. They knew that no project can be assessed unless its success criteria are defined up front. They also acknowledged the importance of message, topicality and timing. And that, regardless of any other aspect, management and marketing are always crucial.

This web-version of Culture Score Card, based on the same model, is now distributed worldwide by Forum for Kultur og Næringsliv (Arts & Business Norway), with the same ambition: Making better projects bridges the gap.

We will offer workshops for users of Culture Score Card. These workshops typically lasts for 3 hours, are based extensively on dialogue, and offers a walk-throug as well as hands-on training. Perfect for groups up to 20 persons. Workshops will be announced by a licenced distributor in your area. Please look for updated information here.

You are welcome to check it out for free for seven days, and to buy your own access to Culture Score Card from this website.
